ROSEMEAD, Calif., Aug. 2, 2010 — Southern California Edison (SCE) today issued a request for proposals for its independent evaluator pool for 2011and 2012. The utility is seeking three or more independent evaluators to monitor a variety of power-procurement activities, including requests for offers for new generation, all-source generation, natural gas, renewable generation, solar photovoltaic project participants, energy commodities, bilateral negotiations and energy auctions.
Interested parties are encouraged to participate in a bidder’s conference call scheduled for Monday, Aug. 9. Call details and a complete proposal package can be found at www.sce.com/energyprocurement/ie. The deadline for proposals is Friday, Aug. 20.
Other details of SCE’s independent evaluator request-for-proposal process include:
- SCE’s process adheres to rules established by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC).
- A request for proposals is widely distributed and solicitation information is posted on SCE’s public-access website.
- A bidder’s conference call is held to answer questions and provide information that bidders will need when preparing contract proposals.
- Contract bids received by the proposal deadline are evaluated by SCE. The utility and its procurement review group will select and interview the top bidders from a short list of the most attractive candidates. The procurement review group comprises non-market participants authorized by the CPUC to review utility procurement activity for consultation purposes. Contract award recommendations will be submitted to the CPUC’s energy division for final approval.
