ROSEMEAD, Calif., Jan. 25, 2001-Southern California Edison is cautiously optimistic that the Internet auction for long-term power supply contracts held Wednesday by the governor's office will yield results beneficial to California utilities and consumers.
SCE has advocated greater use of long-term contracts for two years and is convinced that securing such contracts at affordable rates can represent a positive step in helping resolve the region's energy crisis. Lacking specific information on the bids (prices, hours, contract lengths, etc.) it is inappropriate for SCE to comment further at this time.
