ROSEMEAD, Calif., April 27, 2004—Southern California Edison (SCE) is offering its free Summer Discount Plan to help customers beat the heat this season.
“Our Summer Discount Plan can save customers up to $200 on their electric bills between June and the end of September,” said Lynda Ziegler, director of business and regulatory planning. “Register now and join thousands of SCE customers who save energy and money by allowing us to install a small remote switch on their central air conditioning unit.”
The remote switch allows SCE to occasionally reduce air conditioning usage when energy supplies in the state are threatened. These reduction periods can last up to a maximum of six hours at a time, but are usually shorter. There are three options customers can pick from to meet their comfort level.
- Maximum Savings – the system is turned off 100% of the time for the duration of the energy emergency, resulting in a savings of up to $200.
- Good Value – the system is turned off at intervals or approximately 20 out of every 30 minutes.
- Maximum Comfort – this option provides the most comfort with the system turned off 15 out of every 30 minutes.
“It’s easy to sign up for the Summer Discount Plan. Just call us at (800) 684-8123 and we’ll do the rest,” Ziegler added.
