ROSEMEAD, Calif., August 7, 2001—Almost one third of SCE’s residential customers have gotten a pleasant surprise on their recent bill—a 20% credit for using at least 20% less electricity than they did the same period last year.
During the first full cycle of summer bills, 1,257,549 (or 31%) of SCE’s residential customers qualified for the California 20/20 Rebate Program, compared to 30% systemwide, which includes commercial and industrial customers (124,004, or 24%) and agricultural customers (5,966, or 25%). Together, they have received bill credits totaling over $36 million through funding provided by the state Department of Consumer Affairs.
“We’re very pleased with our customers’ response,” said Pam Bass, senior vice president for customer service. “It shows that they recognize the opportunity represented by this program to significantly reduce their bill, and to make a difference in conserving needed energy supplies to help meet electric power needs statewide.”
The 20/20 rebates are automatic and do not require sign-up. The program applies to power use this summer from June through September. Consumers interested in more information about the 20/20 program are encouraged to call (800) 655-4555 or visit www.sce.com and click on “Governor’s 20/20 Rebate.”
