Edison for the Record has become a regular part of how we engage on issues that matter to our customers, our communities and our team.
Most reporters cover complex topics with care, accuracy and a commitment to journalistic standards. We value that work and our partnership with the media.
When reporting does not fully reflect the facts or the context, we start with direct engagement, working with reporters and editors to clarify information and answer questions. In many cases, that leads to more complete coverage.
When questions remain or important context is still missing, Edison for the Record provides a clear way to share the facts more broadly.
We are not responding to every story. We focus on the ones where accuracy and context matter most, and we will continue to speak up clearly and directly when they are not fully reflected.

Nearly six months ago, we launched Edison for the Record to ensure facts have a place to stand on their own.
In that time, we’ve learned a lot. Colleagues have shared how much they appreciate seeing us defend accuracy when reporting falls short, and how frustrating it is when biased or misleading stories overshadow the real work being done. At the same time, many reporters are getting it right — telling difficult stories with accuracy and integrity, even under pressure. Their work deserves recognition, and we value partnering with them to provide the public with reliable information.
We’ve also learned that while many journalists welcome clarification, some outlets refuse to correct the record. In those cases, Edison for the Record has proven essential: to set the facts straight and to stand behind the people doing the work.
But this is bigger than Edison or the media. In the face of crises and challenges, the strength and resilience of Southern California communities continue to inspire us. Their determination and efforts to recover and rebuild remind us why accuracy matters: because truth supports trust, and trust strengthens resilience.
Six months in, our conviction is clear: facts matter. We will continue to support responsible journalism, challenge inaccuracies and stand alongside the communities we serve.

Reporting on the rapidly developing events surrounding the recent Southern California windstorms and wildfires is clearly challenging. Journalists have a critical job to do, and Edison International and Southern California Edison are steadfast in our commitment to working with them to get the facts right and provide accurate accounts.
I am humbled by how reporters put themselves in harm's way to help the public learn about events, whether in challenging environments, natural disasters or other difficult situations.
Responsible journalists and corporate communications professionals share a common purpose: to inform and serve the public with integrity and accuracy. We support the media in their vital work, but it must always be based on facts. Unfortunately, too much of the reporting on these heartbreaking disasters has been inaccurate and misleading.
There is a significant difference between a negative story and an inaccurate one. A negative story that is factually correct is appropriate and responsible journalism. However, when a story is inaccurate and an outlet refuses to address a factual misrepresentation, it is our responsibility to do so. We will be addressing some of those issues here.
