INLAND EMPIRE, Jan. 6, 2005–Viet N. Tran has been named Southern California Edison’s (SCE) new public affairs region manager for the cities of Corona, Lake Elsinore, Canyon Lake, Moreno Valley, Perris and Riverside, effective immediately.  Tran replaces Eddie Marquez, who is making his return to a similar position previously held in Orange County.
 
Tran will be the company’s local government and community liaison with those cities, as well as the March Joint Powers Authority, an organization created to help plan the use, reuse, and joint use of the former March Air Force Base.

For the past eight years, Tran has worked for several elected officials of the City of Los Angeles, most recently as the West Los Angeles district director for Los Angeles Mayor James Hahn. He also has served as a district deputy for former Los Angeles City Council member Ruth Galanter and as a press aide for former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan.

Active in civic and community organizations, Tran is an honorary member and Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Club of Hawthorne and has served on the boards of the Centinela Valley YMCA serving the Los Angeles South Bay and the Richstone Family Center, a family counseling service in Hawthorne.

A graduate of the University of Southern California, with a bachelor’s degree in public policy and management, Tran is fluent in English and Vietnamese, speaks Spanish, and is currently studying Italian.

The son of Vietnamese war refugees, Tran, lives in Riverside.
