IRVINE, Calif., April 16, 2002-By partnering with Southern California Edison (SCE), B. Braun, an international medical products and healthcare management company, received $25,863 in rebates for retrofitting its Irvine manufacturing facility with energy-efficient lights.  The rebate is part of SCE's Express Efficiency Rebate program, which offers business owners cash rebates for retrofitting and replacing a variety of equipment with new, energy-efficient technology.

B. Braun manufactures intravenous solutions for hospitals and medical centers at its 520,000-square-foot plant.  "B. Braun decided to upgrade the facility, which was built in 1970, to reduce energy costs after analysis showed that a lighting retrofit would have less than an 18-month payback," said Danielle Schofield, SCE major account executive.

Using SCE's Express Efficiency Lighting Rebate program, B. Braun replaced 4,200 T12 bulbs with T8 fluorescent lights. By installing energy-efficient lighting, B. Braun is estimated to save nearly 1.5 million kilowatt-hours per year, or approximately $200,000 annually.

Along with lighting, the Express Efficiency program offers rebates for refrigeration, food service, air conditioning and agricultural irrigation equipment.   For more information on SCE's Express Efficiency Rebate program, visit www.sce.com or call 1-800-736-4777.
