ROSEMEAD, Calif., July 8, 2005 – Doug Kim has been named general manager of Southern California Edison’s (SCE) Edison Carrier Solutions (ECS), a business unit of Southern California Edison (SCE). ECS uses SCE’s extensive fiber optic network to provide large capacity telecommunication services to all types of telecommunications companies such as wireless carriers, large and small local and long distance telephone companies, alternative telecommunications service providers, cable television companies and internet access companies.  

Kim will report to Pedro Pizarro, Edison senior vice president and managing officer for ECS. Commenting on the appointment Pizarro said, “Doug brings a wealth of experience to this role, which reaffirms SCE’s commitment to providing competitively priced, technologically advanced telecommunications services throughout southern California.”
 
Kim previously worked as a senior manager in SCE’s resource planning and strategy group, recently leading projects in the company’s customer service business unit. In 2001 he was responsible for developing and executing ECS business planning and strategy.  Kim joined SCE in 1996, working on corporate strategic planning and new business development.

Before joining SCE, Kim worked in the aerospace industry, leading technical organizations that designed, integrated and tested various systems including communications systems, and managing relationships with large defense industry customers.

Kim received a bachelor of science degree in engineering from Harvey Mudd College in Claremont and a master of business administration degree from UCLA. He lives in Glendale with his wife, Christine. They have one child.
